A wicketkeeper who played one first-class game for New South Wales, David Moore progressed up the coaching ladder with the Australian Cricket Board (now Cricket Australia) and worked with Bennett King at the Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy (CBCA) in Adelaide in 2002. When King took over from Gus Logie as West Indies' coach in 2004 - a position he originally had declined - Moore joined him and, though not one for the spotlight, Moore immediately accepted the head role when King resigned from the post following West Indies' poor campaign in the 2007 World Cup. However, he failed to galvinise the side in England in 2007 and doubts soon surfaced if he was the man to take over full time.
