Nottinghamshire v Kent, Twenty20 Cup, Trent Bridge

Nottinghamshire match postponed 24 hours

Nottinghamshire's Twenty20 quarter-final with Kent was postponed by 24 hours after more heavy rain left Trent Bridge strewn with puddles. Play was unlikely as early as midday, and despite reports that a five-over-a-side game was being considered, it was never a realistic option.

Although no reserve day was scheduled, at 5pm the ECB took the decision to postpone the tie for 24 hours given the exceptional circumstances. The match will now go ahead at the earlier start time of 5.30pm on Wednesday and all tickets will still be valid.

The club announced that if any supporters who have tickets are unable to attend, they may use the tickets for any remaining Nottinghamshire match at Trent Bridge this season - or a full refund will be provided.

The ECB confirmed that all of the quarters can go into a second day, if required. It stressed that the emphasis must be on getting in a five-over match first, if possible. It stipulated that the playing hours for the reserve day will be agreed between the two counties involved and approved by the umpires and ECB, while a bowl-out would be a last resort on the second day.

The decision to use a second day could affect Sri Lanka A's tour match, which is scheduled to begin at Hove on Thursday - but Sussex could be playing, then. The ECB said: "The decision followed consultation with the eight counties involved and ECB is grateful for the understanding of the Sri Lanka A team management."
