Cricket Kenya has approached the Pakistan Cricket Board whether they would be willing to host a short one-day series next February ahead of the ICC World Cup Qualifiers.
Tom Tikolo, CK's chief executive, told The News that he had raised the idea during the Pakistan Academy tour of Kenya which concluded at the weekend. "We are desperate to play against some strong teams and believe that playing a series of one-dayers in Pakistan can really help our players get ready for the World Cup qualifiers," Tikolo said.
"Playing around six games in Pakistan will help us to find our rhythm. The World Cup qualifiers are our most important assignment and we will take all possible steps to ensure that our team competes in the event well-prepared."
The proposal might appeal to the PCB who are keen to attract tours by any overseas teams in the wake of recent cancellations following continuing violence inside the country. However, Kenya are something of a shambles at the moment, and were well beaten by the Academy side in all five matches. What is more, Kenya are hardly likely to prove appealing to broadcasters.
For their part, Kenya are desperate to link up with any Full Member willing to play them. They have ODIs arranged with Zimbabwe and South Africa in the next five weeks, but they represent the first major games in almost a year.
