Pakistan: Cricket camp probables for Indian tour finalized
KARACHI, Dec 27: The national selection committee on Sunday finalized
a list of probables for the Indian tour that will attend the training
camp which begins at the Gadaffi Stadium from Wednesday.
The list is expected to be officially released on Monday.
The selectors met under the chairmanship of Wasim Bari and was also
attended by selector Salahuddin Ahmad and team coach Javed Miandad.
Among notable players included in the list are former captains Rashid
Latif, Salim Malik and Aamir Sohail while discarded left-hander Asif
Mujtaba has also earned the selectors nod.
According to the scheme finalized, the probables will attend the camp
from Dec 30 but the players will be short-listed on Jan 8 to about
20. From those 20 odd players, the team for the Indian tour would be
finalized.
The fast bowlers camp being presently organized at Islamabad will
also be shifted to Lahore but would return to Islamabad after the
probables are downsized.
The likely 35 probables are:
Saeed Anwar, Aamir Sohail, Salim Elahi, Shahid Afridi, Shadab Kabir,
Wajahatullah Wasti, Asif Mahmood, Mohammad Naveed Qureshi (openers),
Inzamam-ul-Haq, Ijaz Ahmad, Salim Malik, Yousuf Youhana, Mohammad
Wasim, Hasan Raza, Asif Mujtaba, Faisal Iqbal, Akhtar Sarfaraz, Azhar
Shafiq (middle-order batsmen), Moin Khan, Rashid Latif, Humayun
Farhat, Javed Qadeer (wicket-keepers), Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis,
Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammad Zahid, Mohammad Akram, Aqib Javed, Abdul
Razzak (fast bowlers) Saqlain Mushtaq, Mushtaq Ahmad, Mohammad
Husain, Nadeem Khan, Ali Husain Rizvi, Murtuza Husain (spinners).
