Cricket in Panama experiences a resurgence April 21, 1999 Cricket in Panama has reportedly been played for 40-50 years, first imported by West Indians working on the Canal. As that generation of West Indians began to die out, Indian immigrants arrived. But their numbers were not great enough to replace the West Indians and for a while, cricket in Panama faded out. Now there are 10 teams, mainly comprising members of the Indian community, although there is one team with a West Indian blend. Each team adopts the name of the person who established the side as its title. Bathan C.C. remains undefeated in the Sunday League, which commenced on February 14. The competing teams are: Paraiso C.C. (the oldest team in the League), Kachalia 'A' C.C., Kachalia 'B' C.C.*, Alam 'A' C.C.*, Alam 'B' C.C.*, Bathan C.C., Navab C.C.*, Pakistani C.C.*, Dadabhai C.C., Sidat C.C. * denotes teams which have dropped out of the finals.
