Kimbowa Lutaya leads Wanderers to victory in Uganda's Luswata Cup

Tony Munro

February 19, 1999

An all-round Man-of-the-Match award winning performance from captain Kimbowa Lutaya gave Wanderers C.C. victory in the Uganda Cricket Association pre-season 16th Luswata Cup knockout final against Africa Cricket Club.

After helping to limit A.C.C. to 229 with 32-2 with his medium-pacers, Lutaya led Wanderers to victory, hitting 82, in his team's total of 230-5. On top of earlier performances, this was enough to give Lutaya the Man-of-the-Tournament award.

ACC captain, Nsubuga Simon, took out the award for the tournament's outstanding bowler. He was perhaps unlucky to be pipped for Man-of-the-Match honours in the final, after top-scoring with 72 and then taking 3-48. He had earlier been instrumental in ACC's semi-final victory over Tornado. The tournament's best batsman award went to ACC's Lwanga Charles.
