Ijaz argues with journalists

NEW DELHI, Feb 7: The agony of losing a Test following doubtful umpiring decisions which created enough bad blood among the Pakistani players eventually led to a clash between Ijaz Ahmad and the mediamen covering the match.
Ijaz Ahmad, who earned a first-ball duck, entered into an argument with the journalists who had come into the dressing room on the request of team coach Javed Miandad and skipper Wasim Akram.
Interestingly, when the argument was taking place, neither Miandad nor Akram tried to intervene.
Out of the Pakistan dressing room, journalists clashed with J.Y Lele, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), as they protested against the lack of facilities.
The journalists bitterly attacked Lele for an overkill of security measures which created all sorts of problems for them in the performance of their duties.
The scribes were also critical of lack of a proper press conference room in which they could interview the captains and coaches. The media people accused Lele of giving more importance to the electronic media than the print media.
In all these arguments, Lele uttered no word and kept quiet.
