CHENNAI, Jan 29: Tailender Venkatesh Prasad complained against Shahid Afridi for chucking during the second day's proceedings in the first cricket Test.
Indian last-man Venkatesh Prasad walked down to square-leg umpire Steve Dunne after Shahid Afridi tested him with a faster one matching Shoaib Akhtar's delivery.
But Dunne didn't call Afridi for a peep-talk as the bowler outsmarted everyone by quickly taking his field at deep mid-wicket. It was, however, not confirmed if Dunne would be reporting the matter to match referee Cammie Smith.
Pakistan captain Wasim Akram admitted that he had a quite chat with Dunne. "He told me that as far as he was concerned, there was nothing wrong with Shahid Afridi's bowling action," Akram said.
Pakistan coach Javed Miandad said if the umpires had any problems, they would have contacted him. "I have not been approached by any of the umpires.
"Shahid is not new to international cricket. He has played over 75 one-day internationals but no one has raised fingers at his bowling action. It was a surprise move by Prasad, probably to bring Shahid under pressure," Miandad felt.
