Hampshire's Academy team bounced back from the disappointment of the previous week's eight-wicket thrashing by BAT Sports to end Bournemouth's unbeaten three-match ECB Southern Electric Premier League start at Chapel Gate.
Lawrie Prittipaul, currently out of favour in county first team circles, was the star of the Academy's 83-run win, hitting 81 and returning a miserly 1-17 off 10.1 overs of seam bowling.
The Academy totalled 217-8 off their full 66 overs, and then reduced Bournemouth from 39-0 to 69-5 and an eventual 134 all out.
"We played a lot of positive cricket, and clearly learned a lot from losing to BAT the week before" said Academy coach Tony Middleton.
"Obviously having Lawrie Prittipaul around was a tremendous bonus, as it enabled a lot of others to play around him."
The Academy's success was built around a 91-run second-wicket partnership between Prittipaul and Morgan Rushbrook (57), who is spending his first season on the MCC groundstaff at Lord's.
The pair took the Hampshire youngsters from 33-1 to 124 when Rushbrook was stumped immediately after lunch.
Prittipaul's 81 guided the Academy on to 183-5 when he became Adam Voges' second victim, but a useful cameo near the end by Dave Griffiths took the Young Hawks on to 217-8.
Matt Swarbrick (27) and Nick Park (21) gave Bournemouth a 39-run platform, but a double blow by Griffiths (2-19), which included the prize scalp of Voges, triggered a collapse.
Bournemouth plunged to 69-5 (Rushbrook 2-32) and effectively out of the contest.
Dave Kidner (18) tried his hand at reviving the situation but saw Geoff Warrington and Dan Jackson perish to the left-arm spin of Charlie van der Gucht (2-24) before Kevin Latouf (2-5) wrapped up the innings at 134.
An all too familiar batting collapse cost Bashley (Rydal) the chance of ending their barren run against Portsmouth at St Helen's, Southsea.
Having reached 117-2 in response to Portsmouth's 166-9, Bashley appeared odds-on to avenge the previous weekend's ECB Club Championship defeat by Portsmouth.
But they lost three wickets for one run and suffered a late order collapse before holding on for a draw, 22 runs behind, at 144-9.
Matt King (4-40) took his season's wicket tally to 16 as Lee Savident (44) and Paul Ancell (31) lifted Portsmouth from 87-5 to 166-9 (Kevin Nash 3-49).
Bashley were seemingly well placed through Neil Thurgood (29), Chris Sketchley (30) and Richard Knowles (30).
But Ancell's five-wicket spell, which yielded a 5-41 return, put Bashley firmly on the back foot and left Andy Neal and Neil Taylor to play out time to secure a draw.
