As a Commonwealth country, cricket has always been played in Cameroon but it has been very much the poor relation in sporting terms, especially to the country's famous football side. Since 2001 the ICC has pushed the game's development and in June 2007 those efforts were rewarded when it was elected as an ICC Affiliate member.
