Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) completed a domestic double with a seven-wicket triumph in the final of the ABN-AMRO Cup over Habib Bank Limited (HBL) in Karachi.

The same two sides had met in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final, the premier first-class competition, and SNGPL extended their dominance to the 50-over format. HBL decided to bat, but they were left reeling at 43 for 4, with SNGPL's new-ball bowlers - Samiullah Khan and Asad Ali splitting the wickets.

Khaqan Arsal and Sulaman Qadir both scored 35s to revive the innings, but Imran Ali quelled the recovery with a hat-trick, removing Arsal, Kamran Hussain and Abdur Rehman to leave HBL at 88 for 7. Imran Ali took a further two wickets, and finished with 5 for 33 as HBL were bowled out for 127.

SNGPL lost Ali Waqas early in their chase, but a 77-run second-wicket stand between Mohammad Hafeez and Azhar Shafiq put them well on course. Abdur Rehman, the leading wicket-taker in the tournament, got rid of Hafeez for 44, and Umar Akmal, but Shafiq stayed till the end to see his side home. He remained unbeaten on 52 as SNGPL triumphed by seven wickets, and 22.5 overs to spare.
