Rohit Sharma's century helped Mumbai pile up 285 and set up a 59-run victory over Tamil Nadu to cruise into the semi-finals in Visakhapatnam. Medium-pacer Usman Malvi took three early wickets to wipe out Tamil Nadu's hopes of chasing down the big target.

After deciding to bat, Mumbai were given a solid platform by openers Sahil Kukreja and Ajinkya Rahane, who put on 62 by the 12th over. Rahane's dismissal for a run-a-ball 32 brought Rohit, who turned in some impressive performances with the national team during the CB series in Australia. He added 119 runs in quick time with Kukreja before the partnership was ended by medium-pacer Sivakumar. Rohit then ensured Mumbai posted a formidable total, though none of the other batsmen to follow reached even 20, as he smashed eight fours and three sixes to make his second List A century.

Tamil Nadu's pursuit never recovered from Malvi's three blow which reduced them to 29 for 3 by the eighth over. Dinesh Karthik made a spirited 47 but when he fell in the 25th over, Tamil Nadu were at a hopeless 117 for 7. The margin of defeat would have been embarrassingly large if not for the 80-run stand for the ninth wicket between Shivkumar (56*) and No. 10 Yo Mahesh (30*).
