Australia v Bangladesh
Steven Lynch
15-Apr-2004
At Cairns, August 2, 2003. Australia won by eight wickets. Toss: Australia.
Bangladesh failed to carry their improved Test form into the one-day arena, going down to their
35th successive defeat in completed one-day internationals since the 1999 World Cup. This match
was all over in little more than half the scheduled playing time, as Australia knocked off the runs
required in only 22.3 overs after putting Bangladesh in and bundling them out for 105. Once
Hannan Sarkar was run out in the second over, Lee did the early damage, taking four wickets as
Bangladesh slumped to 33 for five. He also broke Khaled Masud's thumb with a lifter. Masud
was unable to take his place behind the stumps, and Sarkar stepped in for the rest of the series.
