Holland v Namibia

At Bloemfontein, March 3, 2003

15-Apr-2004
At Bloemfontein, March 3, 2003. Holland won by 64 runs. Toss: Holland.
Holland swept home in this clash of the club cricketers. Revelling in some beatable opposition at last, they won their first World Cup match in 11 attempts; sadly, a hamstring injury meant their captain, Roland Lefebvre, could only watch what was supposed to be his last game. Feiko Kloppenburg and the unbeaten Klaas-Jan van Noortwijk entered uncharted waters for Dutch cricket as they became the first batsmen to make one-day international centuries for Holland, and they added 228 for the second wicket. Holland's final total of 314 was 13 more than the Australians had managed against the same opposition four days earlier. Namibia's brave run-chase was led by a typically strong-armed 41 from Jan-Berrie Burger, matched by his opening partner Morne Karg. But Kloppenburg's medium-pace maintained control, and Namibia flew home without a win. Unlike Bangladesh, they went home happy.
Man of the Match: J. F. Kloppenburg. Attendance: 2,939.
