ICC disputes resolution Committee deferred

Michael Beloff QC, the Chairman of the ICC Code of Conduct Commission, has reluctantly deferred next week's meeting of the ICC Disputes Resolution Committee, due to the unavailability through illness of its principal witness.

The Committee was set up at the last ICC Executive Board meeting in Cape Town, to investigate the detailed procedures followed by ICC Match Referee Mike Denness in disciplining six Indian players during last November's Port Elizabeth Test match.

Comprising Mr Beloff and ICC Directors Peter Chingoka, Zimbabwe, Bob Merriman, Australia and Wes Hall of the West Indies, the Committee was due to meet in London on the 6th and 7th June.

That meeting has now been deferred for at least three months, following confirmation that Mike Denness is to undergo surgery in the near future and will not be in a position to attend the inquiry. Michael Beloff considered his attendance to be crucial for the Committee to be able to reach firm and fair conclusions.
