Simon Jones has been given permission to play in Glamorgan's game against Cardiff UCCE at Sophia Gardens this Wednesday.
Jones was one of five contacted players who returned from the Test leg of the Caribbean and not required for the one-dayers. They were told by the ECB to put their feet up and not to play for their counties until May 3.
However, Jones, who took 11 wickets in the four-Test series, will be allowed to appear in Glamorgan's match as he has not bowled since he returned from the West Indies. Duncan Fletcher, England's coach, and Troy Cooley, the bowling coach, are keen for Jones to play regularly as he continues to work his way back from his knee injury.
"We have cleared everything with England and I think it's sensible for everyone concerned that he is playing for us this week," said John Derrick, Glamorgan's coach. "I think Troy is very keen he is playing because he is working on a few things with Simon with regards his follow-up, where he lands his back foot and his front arm. It also gives Simon a chance to get back in the middle and have a day or so in the field. I expect him to bowl between 16 and 20 overs in the match."
