The Kenyan safari became ever more adventurous as they beat Zimbabwe for the first time in 15 attempts to become the least fancied side ever to reach the World Cup semi-finals. "Today is the biggest day in every Kenyan's life," enthused Tikolo. It was their third win over Test opponents in the competition - and their most convincing. On another anodyne pitch, Martin Suji's bustling, accurate medium-pace accounted for three early wickets - including Campbell, summoned hastily from the commentary box because of Zimbabwe's injury list - before Obuya's leg-breaks baffled the middle order. Only Andy Flower, with a patient 63 including five of Zimbabwe's nine boundaries, batted with any common sense. With history beckoning, Kenya stuttered; they were 62 for three when Olonga, picked for the first time since his black-armband protest during Zimbabwe's opening game, trapped Otieno. But Odoyo and Odumbe launched a thrilling counter-attack. Odoyo was merciless off the back foot, while Odumbe repeatedly used his feet to hit inside-out over extra cover. When the two of them combined to hit six consecutive deliveries to the boundary, Zimbabwe knew their World Cup was over.
