Bjorn Kotze was named Namibia's Player of the Year in their recent awards ceremony. Louis Klazinga was the Most Improved Player, whereas Tobie Verwey received the President's Award, which is given on merit.
Verwey acted as back-up keeper to Tatenda Taibu but scored a brilliant century against UAE in the intercontinental Cup batting at no. 9 when he eventually had an opportunity.
The Umpire of the Year was Jeff Luck, while the Administrator of the Year was awarded posthumously to Sam van Wyk, the director of marketing and President of Wanderers Cricket Club who died in a road accident early in 2007. This was accepted by his widow Mynie.
