In the match at Municipal Stadium in Rajkot, Mumbai got five points and Saurashtra three as their high scoring match ended in a draw on the final day on Tuesday. Put into bat on the opening day, Saurashtra hammered the Mumbai attck to end the first day at 315 for eight. The score was boosted by a 140-run seventh wicket stand between US Karavadra (115 not out) and RV Dhruve (105). Dhruve was the seventh batsman to be dismissed. During a 147-minute stay at the crease, Dhruve faced 105 balls and plundered 16 boundaries and one six. Then US Karavadra and B Mehta (47) added 106 runs for the last wicket. Karavadra remained unbeaten at the end of the innings as Saurashtra amassed 435 runs. In a stay of 390 minutes, Karavadra faced 287 balls and hit 14 fours.
In response, Mumbai batted through the rest of the second day as well as the final day to take the first innings lead. They were helped by their skipper HS Shinde (146) and S Adhikari (158) who forged a 279- run fourth wicket stand off 85.1 overs. Mumbai got the lead and ended with a score of 444 for five.
