ADELAIDE, Oct 26 AAP - New South Wales declared its first innings at 6-474 after Michael Slater was dismissed for 177 at lunch on the second day of its Pura Cup cricket match against South Australia at Adelaide Oval today.
Slater was bowled behind his legs by SA part-time medium pacer Ben Johnson on the last ball of the innings, after sharing a 148-run partnership with Brad Haddin.
Former Test opener Slater's innings lasted more than five hours, encompassing a 214-run fifth wicket partnership with Michael Clarke yesterday, 20 boundaries and a six.
Haddin scored an unbeaten 78 in just 98 balls, including 11 boundaries and a six.
The NSW pair belted its 148 runs in just under 33 overs today to put NSW in a position for the declaration.
They were very severe on off-spinner John Davison, who bowled 3.2 overs for 23 runs today, and medium pacer Greg Blewett, who conceded 44 runs in his eight overs.
Davison finished as the only multiple wicket-taker in the innings, but at great expense, with 2-95 from 17 overs.
