At Rawalpindi, April 24 (day/night). Pakistan won by three wickets. Toss: New Zealand.
Despite the bad news that a knee injury had curtailed Astle's tour, New Zealand looked like
levelling the series here. After Fleming, back from a stomach upset, chose to bat, McMillan stroked
105 in 116 balls, his highest one-day international score. He had solid support from Horne and
Adams. All the home bowlers struggled for accuracy, and Shoaib Akhtar went wicketless. Then
Imran Nazir fell first ball in Pakistan's reply, and Yousuf Youhana followed next over. But Shahid
Afridi blasted 40 from 37 balls, and half-centuries from Younis Khan and Abdul Razzaq helped
Pakistan reach their third-highest total chasing, and an unassailable 2-0 lead, with 17 deliveries
to spare. Razzaq struck a career-best 86 from 84 balls.
Man of the Match: Abdul Razzaq.
