The first one-day international between West Indies and England at Georgetown, Guyana, has come under threat due to wet conditions. Guyana had faced wet weather in recent days, which washed out England's warmup game, and according to weather reports, more rain was on the way.
Parts of the Bourda ground had developed wet patches - a cause of concern to the umpires. A ground inspection was made on Saturday, and one more was scheduled for 7:30am on Sunday, to ascertain if the match could begin at its scheduled start of 9:35am.In the event of the match being abandoned on Sunday, Monday was designated as a reserve day.
Meanwhile, the President of Guyana had pressed a defence force helicopter into service to help dry the Bourda ground before the scheduled start.
