Sri Lanka needs to win both matches of its two-Test series in Zimbabwe to maintain its current rating in the ICC Test Championship table starting tomorrow in Harare.
Sri Lanka goes into the series in seventh place in the official table, five points behind its closest rival Pakistan. Anything less than a 2-0 win for the visitors will increase this gap to the sides above them.
A drawn series will see Sri Lanka's rating fall from 94 to 90 while a 1-0 defeat would cause it to slump to 88.
Zimbabwe's current rating is 55 and it needs to emerge from the series with at least one draw to improve its rating.
Billy Bowden and Rudi Koertzen from the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires will stand in both matches. Mike Procter from the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Referees will take charge of the series.
