Profile
Pamela Lavine grew up playing softball, and it was from this sport that her love for cricket emerged: her cousin, Gordon Greenidge, and brother Mark - who played for Barbados at cricket - inspired her, too. She first played softball at the age of nine, but took up her cricket bat at secondary school, St Lucy, where she played alongside Vasbert Drakes in the inter-house competition. She went on to represent Barbados, aged 34, in 2004 and she is set to make her one-day international debut for West Indies at the World Cup in South Africa in March 2005, where her hard-hitting approach should come in useful, and her fast bowling is pretty handy, too.
