chipped in the air... and held by a swooping Gibson! Mid-on and mid-off were both in the game but in the end it was Gibson haring across to her left to throw herself full length as Dean took evasive action. That completes a comprehensive 65-run win, sealing the series with one to play
ENG Women vs PAK Women, 2nd T20I at Northampton, ENG v PAK (W), May 17 2024 - Match Result
Nida Dar has become the highest wicket-taker in WT20Is with 137 wickets, going past Megan Schutt's 136
Ecclestone has become the top wicket-taker for ENG-W in WT20Is with 117 wickets, going past K Sciver-Brunt's 114
9.25pm: That's yer lot from Wantage tonight. Danyal Rasool's report will be in the slot shortly, and stick around for more breakdown from Valkerie Baynes. Thanks for your comments, just a two-day turnaround to the final game, at Headingley on Sunday, so make sure to join us for that. Bye-bye!
9.15pm: Time for the presentations... Alice Capsey is Player of the Match: "Once I got in it was easier the longer I batted. It felt slow and low. After the last game, we had our plans and stuck to them. It was about adapting and playing different shots. Tried to create different lengths and be a bit more proactive. [Form] Would be nice to score runs every game, but I'm more at peace with the ebbs and lows. I've got backing from the staff to try and be a matchwinner. [Bowling] Working hard, nice to get a bowl and take the opportunity."
Pakistan captain Nida Dar: "I take positives from the approach. The intent was there on the batting side. Bowling is our strength, we rely on that and the bowlers did well. But at the moment the batting part is not working. We have tried a few things, we are working on it and will talk again before the next game. [Leading T20I wicket-taker] Very proud moment for me but not the performance we wanted."
England's Heather Knight: "Pleased with the way we went about it with the bat in the powerplay. We had to think about taking on slower bowling on a slower pitch. Lost a bit of momentum in the middle but really pleased. [Pitch] Found it hard to get going we used that to our advantage. Spin is our strength but we delivered. Good practice for Bangladesh [T20 World Cup]. [Gibson] Huge talent with the bat, she's shown what she can do. An exciting young cricketer. [Fielding] Sarah Glenn deserves a mention, she's one of the hardest workers. [Ecclestone wickets milestone] She's already breaking records at 25. Brunty will be happy to pass it on. She picks up wickets in all phases, very handy to call on. She'll be chasing Nida at the top of the pack. We really want to nail the final game."
9.12pm: That's a pretty strong statement from England, who were never at their best with the bat but still walk away with a crushing margin of victory. Their total was probably only around par but the bowlers squeezed Pakistan in ruthless fashion, conceding just a handful of boundaries and rounding up all ten wickets inside 16 overs. England's spinners - Dean, Ecclestone, Glenn and Capsey - took 7 for 41 from 10.5 overs as Pakistan never threatened to get near in their chase
over the wicket, defended towards point
Sadia Iqbal is last woman
skidding on and sliced to point! Waheeda decides to have a dip and heaves lustily across the line, but the top edge doesn't go far. Safely pouched by Glenn again and the end is nigh

tossed up wide of off, chopped towards point
Ecclestone is back, England looking to finish things
tossed up on fourth stump, defended stoically
flat outside off, carved to backward point
spins down leg, Nushra almost swings herself off her feet, misses... and wide is called
nudged to short midwicket, this time they don't risk the run
flighted, Waheeda clears the front leg and biffs to long-on
tossed up and worked with the spin to leg
nudged off the pads, and there's another chance for a run-out! Jones couldn't collect the ball one-handed in front of the stumps with Waheeda short
Slip in for Capsey
full, straight and whipped through midwicket. Just a single as Bouchier bounds in off the rope
length ball on off, clipped through the covers to the sweeper for one more
short ball, Waheeda thinks about uppercutting but eventually limbos underneath
in the channel, too close to the tramlines of the umpires this time
pitched up and driven firmly through the covers for one
slightly wide line, again she fails to connect
length in the channel, stays a touch low as Nashra swings and misses
